TPCK

This video speaks directly to teachers. It stresses how essential it is to our students' success that we implement TPACK into our lessons but it is also very encouraging that this is something that we can all do. It's a great video to show a group of teachers if trying to get them to buy into the TPACK process. (Shatley)

This video explains TPACK in simple terms. The most interesting thing about it is how the guy draws the venn diagram from the UPS logo.

I found this overview video of TPACK interesting because she uses low level technology such as white paper and simple black and white drawings along with digital technology of a video camera and a document camera to express the concept of TPACK. It is very much representative of combining our pedagogy and the content knowledge we possess with the new tools of technology to enhance learning.

Just another thought about technology from a well known individual. I would love to know what others think when after watching this short introduction to mobile learning devices (so please respond)! Devices, which indeed bridge the digital and cultural divides found in the educational setting today. Imagine teaching for learning that is as close to the learner as the personal mobile device. For many years my educational belief held constructivism and pragmatism laced with inquiry as the most effective and logical approach to instruction. However recently with the push toward full inclusion of all students, making an extremely diverse learning situation in nearly every classroom, has lead me to embrace existentialistic ideas. Imagine students learning based on a set curriculum yet paced by the child's personal motivation and mastery of given content. Imagine a Montessori like structure taken to the next level, allowing for mastery of content and subject before moving on, so no child is truly left behind. Now imagine what that scenario would look like in today's modern classroom, or better, yet the futures digital classroom. I firmly agree with the notion of bridging the infrastructure gap, access to achievement-enhancing TMI gap, and access to culturally sensitive technology gap using artifacts that are already being utilized by the population at large. Where do you think education will be in twenty years? What about five years?

Now Watch the folloing white board presentation from youtube, as an educator it is one of my favorites. I always find my self asking how can I possibly teach like this with my 40students per 45 minutes, times seven classes per day. I really believe the key to student success can be found in this video. As I move forward I find myself asking, what technology will help me accomplish this task? What teaching strategies will I need to incorporate inorder to make my students internal flame stoke brighter and burn longer? How do I manage the difficult content, teach using the latest pedagogy, and incorporate the most effective technology to achieve the desire results in my students? When watching this, remember that I am not promoting Montessori education. I am just wondering how I can apply what they do using the concepts of TPACK for all students.
